My darling Summer has just become a surrogate mother to a litter of Pugs, bred by my husband. Their mother totally rejected them at birth and despite a lot of effort on our part there was no way their mother would take care of them. Rather than lose the whole litter I tried them with Summer and she took them in straight away. She is looking after them with all the love and attention possible. Bless your heart Summer - I am indebted to you my darling.

         Summer is a stunning black and tan bitch, bred by Simon J Otter of the Portalutra Kennels. She has done remarkably well in the ring. Summer has achieved  numerous first prizes at Open Show level and won Group 3 at the Crowle Open Show, having won her JUNIOR  class and BOB. However, she will be campaigned more fully in the coming months. Summer went to The South Yorkshire Hound Society Show on 12.09.09 and just managed a 4th place. However, the following day she won 1st In Junior at The East Yorkshire Dachshund Club professionally handled by Mr. Simon Otter (her breeder) of the Portalutra Kennels. Then went on to win a good second place in the AV Junior Stakes Judge: Mrs. J. Breese (Silkdown).

Stafford Canine Society Open Show was our next event where Judge. Mrs. Jackie Hassall judged the Miniature Smooth classes. She gave Summer 1st in Junior and gave her Best of Breed. Once again Summer was expertly handled by Mr. Simon J. Otter. This appears to be a successful partnership. Summer's next show was the Lancashire and Cheshire Dachshund Association held at St. Helens where she won a reputable 3rd. Mrs. V. J. Watkinson judged the breed at Bakewell Premier Open show and gave Summer a well deserved 1st place and Reserve Best of Breed.  Summer  was mated to Dinkidax Buttons (who has already sired a stunning litter of puppies - see above)

Summer gave birth to two lovely little black and tan girls during the early hours of 22nd January 2011. Both these puppies have been sold.
